PLEASE NOTE: I am not boasting about this accident, I was a fool, and I was very lucky to live.

The crash was on the A134 near Wormegay (click here for map) was on my way to King's Lynn from Thetford (Norfolk UK) 8:00am May 1998 in the car I had owed for 8 years. One minute everything was normal then I had to start my life again, the worst thing that has ever happened to me and I will never get over it.

You may recover from the physical injury but you never recover from a head injury!

Amnesia
Can't remember what happened, don't know how I got there, can't believe I'm not dead
Injuries
Severe head injury and a big scar on my face. Two weeks in hospital, months recovering. No one else was hurt
Who's fault?
The main witness stated that I was following her driving slowly and sensibly for 12 miles. The police are not sure what really happened but they think I may have been overtaking at the final moment, it is not clear: but of course I was the one in the wrong. It's so strange to me as I used to drive quickly, but I thought, safely and carefully.
Conviction
Only one after 12 years driving: Driving without Due care and Attention 6 points and a £70 fine. Some have said this was not enough punishment but I was unemployed at the time, was the only injured party and my life was destroyed for some time, which is why I think the court went easy on me.
FAQ
Why did it split in half?
Well it was getting quite old in 98 (it was an 85 model) I think corrosion had weakened the steel. And the car that I hit was brand new and BIG. If he was doing 70mph and I was doing 70mph we are talking a lot of combined speed. Also if the back of my car had not split off I expect I would be dead as the energy was taken away by the rear splitting away. The car was not very old when I bought it so I doubt it was two cars welded together (cut and shut).
